How does the HRTII technology work?
Heidelberg have perfected the use of confocal scanning laser technology to provide unique 3-dimensional images and very detailed quantitive data to better diagnose and manage eye disease. The principle of a confocal scanning laser system allows scattered light and light originating from outside the focal plane to be efficiently suppressed. The HRTII acquires a series of optical section images at different locations of the focal plane to form a three-dimensional image. An image series can have up to 192 individual optical sections which are combined in a mean to form the 3D topograph.
